Aveiro

I briefly had the opportunity to leave Lisbon for the coastal town of Aveiro. Once a significant port, the town is now famous for its salt production and its canals. Here are a few shots of the town at night for your viewing pleasure.

The town's most famous landmark is this unusual circular pedestrian bridge. The unusual span sits at the intersection of two canals and provides access to each corner.

Ultimately, Aveiro was a nice place to spend a little time away from the press of (mostly Spanish and French) tourists infesting Lisbon. This is still a tourist destination, but one not quite so saturated as the capital.

Next time: More Lisbon. Or something.
